Mrs Govender - January 2011, South Africa "A home away from home - I emailed over 30 places for accommodation in Durban and Ina at Gateway Country Lodge was the only owner/hostess who addressed me in a warm and hospitable manner. She went the extra mile to accommodate us and the atmosphere was just like being at home!! It was also the very first time that my 2 kids had to share a room without us and Ina made the experience quite a pleasant one! She provided us with 2 rooms that faced each other, allowing the kids to feel secure and comfortable. This experience also allowed them to become a little more matured and less dependent on us. Ina and her husband definitely create a warm and relaxing atmosphere for all the guests. The amazing part for me was that all the guests at Gateway were family orientated with kids of their own. So we all related to each other in a common way. Ina was quite flexible in that she exceeded our expectations. Even though Gateway only provided breakfast Ina went the extra mile to provide us with a braai facility and also the use of her kitchen utensils (after hours too). My husband's family joined us on several evenings and one specific evening my mom-in law cooked crab curry. Ina and her husband quickly set up the garden table and chairs with sufficient light so that we were able to enjoy our meal... we also had the opportunity to meet Ina's family who I must say also added to the "home away from home" atmosphere!! Thanks to the staff of Gateway who ironed my husband's clothing on request and prepared our breakfast with such delight. Their friendly manner and assistance really made our stay an unforgettable one!! 3 cheers for Gateway Country Lodge!!!"
